Benefits of Cinnamon Tea

At The Karma Tea Co., we focus on creating high-quality teas that are both full of flavour and beneficial to our well-being. Our Ceylon Cinnamon Black Tea brings together the bold character of Sri Lankan black tea with the naturally sweet, warming essence of real Ceylon cinnamon. Here’s a closer look at the benefits of this carefully crafted blend.

The Perfect Pairing: Sri Lankan Black Tea & Ceylon Cinnamon

Our Ceylon Cinnamon Tea is made with single-origin black tea from Amba Estate, Sri Lanka. The tea leaves are carefully handpicked—often selecting just one leaf and a bud for exceptional quality. After withering and hand-rolling, the leaves undergo oxidation before being dried using eco-friendly biomass dryers. To enhance the blend, we add Ceylon cinnamon (known as ‘true’ cinnamon), also grown organically on the estate, which naturally infuses the tea with its warm, subtly sweet spice.

Energise and Enhance Focus

The natural caffeine content in black tea serves as a gentle stimulant, providing a sustained energy boost without the jitters often associated with coffee. Together  with amino acids like L-theanine, this blend promotes alertness and relaxation, fostering improved focus and mental clarity throughout your day.

Supports Heart Health

Regular consumption of black tea has been linked to cardiovascular benefits. Studies suggest that black tea can reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol- the "bad" cholesterol- by 7.5%, thereby lowering the risk of coronary heart disease. Additionally, the antioxidants present in black tea contribute to improved blood vessel function, supporting overall heart health.

Aid in Blood Sugar Regulation

Ceylon cinnamon, an essential ingredient in our blend, has shown promise in managing blood sugar levels. Recent medical research suggests that its natural compounds can slow the activity of gut enzymes that break down starches, potentially reducing blood sugar spikes after meals. This effect could be especially beneficial for those with type 2 diabetes or anyone looking to maintain steady blood sugar levels.

Rich in Antioxidants

Black tea and Ceylon cinnamon are both packed with antioxidants, which help fight oxidative stress and protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. These compounds support overall cellular health and may play a role in reducing the risk of chronic diseases.

Promotes Digestive Wellness

Black tea contains natural compounds that support the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, aiding digestion and promoting a balanced gut microbiome. Ceylon cinnamon has long been used to help relieve digestive discomforts like bloating, further supporting overall digestive health.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Ceylon cinnamon is known for its strong anti-inflammatory properties. Adding it to your tea routine may help reduce inflammation in the body and ease symptoms related to inflammatory conditions.

Brewing the Perfect Cup

To fully appreciate the nuanced flavours and health benefits of our Ceylon Cinnamon Tea, follow these brewing suggestions:

  • Quantity: Use 2.5 grams (approximately 2 teaspoons) of tea per 250ml of water.
  • Water Temperature: Heat water to 95°C (203°F).
  • Steeping Time: Infuse for 3 minutes.

A Commitment to Quality and Sustainability

At The Karma Tea Co., we are dedicated to ethical sourcing and sustainable practices. By partnering directly with small-scale growers across South Asia, we ensure that our teas are cultivated without pesticides and supplied loose, making them fully compostable. This approach not only delivers a superior cup of tea but also supports the well-being of the farmers and the environment.
